For May 2022

6 years of classes,

Turned into semesters,

Semesters turned into weeks,

Weeks turned into days,

And finally, she reached the end

A long awaited arrival

Of her name printed on a piece of paper,

Below it, her acknowledgement of a college degree.

Maybe all they saw was the piece of paper,

Or the smile on her face when she finally got to flip her tassel,

But had they known what took place to get there,

All the tears,

All the frustration,

All the late nights and half caffeinated coffees,

All the moments spent in despair,

All the times her life was just a ball of uncertainty,

All the laughs and conversations shared,

All the flash cards and post it notes,

All the turning of the pages,

All the books read and notes written,

Led to the few seconds she went on stage to receive her diploma.

And for those few moments,

She felt proud, for she had finally done it

Against the odds, both hers and the worlds,

She finally became a college graduate.
